Mount Vernon City Library Celebrates Día de los Niños with Festive Event at Hillcrest Lodge5/18/2024 The vibrant sounds of music and laughter filled Hillcrest Park on Saturday, May 11 as the Mount Vernon City Library hosted its annual Día de los Niños celebration. This year's event, drew a crowd of over 300 attendees, marking it as one of the most successful celebrations to date.
Sponsored by the Mount Vernon Library Foundation, the Día de los Niños event highlighted the importance of literacy and cultural heritage among children. The highlight of the day was a dynamic performance by the Grammy Award-winning children's music duo, Lucky Diaz, as part of Skagit Kids Read Week. His energetic and engaging performance captivated children and adults alike, turning the park into a lively festival of music and dance. In addition to the musical performance, the event featured a variety of activities designed to promote reading and cultural appreciation among children. The Mount Vernon City Library set games, arts and crafts, treats and Folklorico performances.
